This SSM is being raised to clarify the operation of the Parking Aid system for 2014 Model Year Range Rover and Range Rover Sport.
EXPLANATION
Recent software changes to the Parking Aid Module software have been released for service and production. Specifically, an Auto-On strategy has been implemented as a running change in response to customer demand. Auto-On activates the Parking Aid system while the vehicle is in Drive, without having to select Reverse. With the vehicle in drive, when the vehicle speed is less than 6mph, Parking Aid will automatically turn on. Parking Aid will be active until the vehicle's speed reaches 10mph.
In addition to the Auto-On feature, the Parking Aid Module software was also provisioned to allow the customer to enable or disable the Auto-On feature. With the vehicle running and in park, the Parking Aid button can be held for 3 seconds in order enable or disable the Auto-On feature. If the Auto-On feature is currently selected on, pressing and holding the Parking Aid button will deactivate the Auto-On feature, vise versa. Upon holding the Parking Aid button for 3 seconds, the Parking Aid indicator lamp will illuminate briefly to acknowledge the desired function change. The Parking Aid Module will not reset itself to a default per key cycle, the user setting will be retained.
With this information it is important now to understand the specific software versions in the Parking Aid Module and understanding their default values in the event of a reset. For example a module programming routine is performed, a disconnection in battery power, replacement of the module, etc. The following information will help the technician identify which feature default is present in the Parking Aid Module.
DPLA-14C090-DK
DPLA-14C090-DK Parking Aid Module software was released into production at VINs EA150296 - Range Rover, and EA335715 - Range Rover Sport in late November 2013. Furthermore the DPLA-14C090-DK software was also introduced onto the service tool around that same time. Vehicles having the campaign Q324 applied from this date would have received DPLA-14C090-DK Parking Aid Module software and would operate as described above with the new features present. This software strategy sets the Parking Aid Module to Auto-On in the event of a reset.
DPLA-14C090-DL
DPLA-14C090-DL Parking Aid Module software was released into production at VINs EA164898 - Range Rover, and EA360934 - Range Rover Sport in mid March 2014. Furthermore the DPLA-14C090-DL software was also introduced onto the service tool around that same time. Vehicles having the campaign Q324 applied would have received DPLA-14C090-DL Parking Aid Module software and would operate as described above with the new features present. This software strategy sets the Parking Aid Module to switch OFF Auto-On in the event of a reset.
In either software level listed above the customer may switch their desired Parking Aid preference to whichever setting they choose. Until otherwise noted any further Parking Aid Module incrementation will leave the Auto-On feature defaulted off.
