ISSUE
A customer may report one or more Body Control Module (BCM) outputs not functioning.
Examples of these may include:
Exterior lighting, Interior lighting, Sun roof blinds, Steering Wheel Adjust, Eco stop start etc...
One or more of these symptoms may be accompanied by DTC U1000-00 (Solid State Driver Protection Active - Driver Disabled) present in the BCM.
If DTC U1000-00 is not present in the BCM do not continue with this SSM. Continue to diagnose and repair the inoperative BCM output as necessary using Topix as a guide.
CAUSE
When repeated short circuits occur the BCM goes into a self-protection mode. In this mode outputs where short circuits have been repeatedly seen are disabled. This is indicated by the presence of the DTC U1000-00 stored in the BCM.
This is done to prevent any possible damage to the BCM and other vehicle systems.
ACTION
Note - Do not replace the BCM
Using the Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) approved diagnostic equipment, check for any short circuit DTCs. These are DTCs ending in -11, -12, -14 & -15.
Repair all circuits as necessary using Topix as a guide.
SDD DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE

- Connect the JLR approved diagnostic equipment to the vehicle and begin a new session.
- Follow the Jaguar Land Rover approved diagnostic equipment prompts.
- Select the 'Service Functions' Session Type
- Run 'Body systems - Enable Protected Outputs'
- When all of the tasks are complete, exit the session.
- Disconnect the JLR approved diagnostic equipment and the JLR approved battery support unit.
