CONDITION SUMMARY

NOTE: This bulletin is for information only.

Situation:  The Integrated Audio Module (IAM) which may also be referred to as the Audio Control Module (ACM) could be incorrectly replaced when troubleshooting if issues are incorrectly attributed to it.

Cause:  The IAM may be incorrectly diagnosed as the source of the fault and replaced in error.

Before replacing the IAM when there are errors with specific audio functions, check the following associated control modules against the symptoms chart.

"A 'no or poor quality audio' concern should not be considered to be the result of a failure in the IAM before the amplifier or speakers have been checked and thoroughly excluded first.

The IAM controls all Bluetooth connectivity. For Bluetooth® pairing or phone signal issues check the IAM for correct functionality.

Playback issues - Check the IAM for media integrity and mechanism issues. The eject function is controlled by the IAM although selection is through the Touch Screen (TS).

This is NOT an IAM function. Check the Satellite Radio Control Module (SRCM) or associated antennas for correct functionality.

Lost communication through the Media Oriented System Transport (MOST) are not normally attributed to the IAM. Check the MOST ring for correct functionality and replace as necessary.

Routing/map, including all images associated with the navigation, traffic updates and voice instructions are all functions within the IAM. The TS only reacts as instructed by the IAM, therefore check the IAM for correct functionality.

Includes all issues of clarity, not finding channels, not storing radio channels correctly. Check associated antennas and/or IAM for correct functionality.

Action:  Follow the Service Instruction outlined below for a more comprehensive symptom review.
