WARRANTY

NOTE: Always check DDW to verify that the vehicle is affected by this Action prior to undertaking any repair. Some vehicles have been repaired at ports and at the factory. It is possible that a VIN has already been repaired. DDW reflects only those vehicles affected and un-repaired.

The original UPS36-07 did not cover the repairs for "Condition 4" in this bulletin. Any vehicle that has already undergone a repair against Q029 under the UPS36-07 Version 1 procedures should NOT be returned for the repair detailed in Condition 4. Should a vehicle exhibit the concern detailed in Condition 4, the repair should be dealt with under the terms of normal Warranty as outlined in Technical Bulletin LTB00096 .

Service Action Q029 - LR2 Module Upgrades

Vehicles Affected: 2008 LR2

Dear Land Rover Owner,

Land Rover is providing a no-charge Customer Satisfaction Campaign (Service Action Q029) to owners of 2008 model year LR2 vehicles.

Reason for the Program:

Recently, Land Rover has identified a number of product enhancements introduced on the production line that can be made retroactively to vehicles in service. As part of our commitment to customer satisfaction we have authorized your Land Rover Retailer to complete a series of complimentary software upgrades to your vehicle to bring it to the latest production specification.

The specific improvements involve upgrades to the Bluetooth cellular telephone module to enhance phone pairing processes, particularly with "SMART" or PDA phones, and upgrades to the Instrument Cluster module, the body control module and the audio module. These changes will help prevent engine starting concerns as well as intermittent audio cut-out when starting the engine. Your vehicle will be updated with the latest software for the affected modules.

What should you do?

We encourage you to contact your Authorized Land Rover Retailer to have "Service Action Q029" performed on your LR2 vehicle free of charge.

How long will it take?

The work is expected to take approximately one and a half hours, although retailers may require the vehicle for a longer period because of service scheduling requirements.

What should you do if you have further questions?

Should you have any questions regarding this Service Action or need assistance in locating your nearest authorized Land Rover Retailer, please contact the Land Rover Customer Relationship Center at 1-800-637-6837, Option 9  . You can also contact Land Rover by e-mail. Visit the web site www.landroverusa.com  and send an email from the "Contact Us" section.

Pairing and Docking using your mobile phone

Follow the steps below to pair and dock your phone with the vehicle using your mobile phone.

  1. Ensure that the ignition is on and the audio unit display is active.
  2. Ensure that there is no phone currently docked with the vehicle's Bluetooth system. If a phone is docked with the system, you will not be able to pair and dock another phone until the current phone has been undocked.
  3. Using the mobile phone, search for Bluetooth devices.
NOTE: The process of pairing and docking your phone with the vehicle using your mobile phone will vary depending on the type of mobile phone used. See your phone's operating instructions for further information.
  4. When the vehicle's Bluetooth phone system is discovered, your mobile phone will list Land Rover  as a Bluetooth device. Select this device from the list.
  5. You will now be requested to enter a Bluetooth PIN on your mobile phone. When pairing and docking from your mobile phone, this number is always 2121  .

Once your phone is paired to the vehicle's Bluetooth system, it can connect automatically. If the phone does not automatically connect, you will have to connect manually with the Land Rover Bluetooth System via your mobile phone. Please consult the mobile phone's operating instructions for further information.

Alternatively, you can pair and dock your phone with the vehicle using the vehicle's audio display unit. Please refer to the main owner's handbook section; Pairing a Telephone to the System.

NOTE: You do not need to manually pair and dock the phone with the vehicle every time you switch the ignition on.

The Bluetooth system supports Hands Free Profile 1.5 (HFP1.5). If the mobile phone paired to the system also supports this profile, additional features will be available such as signal strength and network operator. If the mobile phone does not support these features, they will not be available on the audio unit display. However, you can refer to the mobile phone's display to determine these items.

Please refer to the Land Rover website at www.landrover.com, for a list of compatible telephones.
