CONDITION SUMMARY
Situation: LR3 vehicles equipped with the 4.0L V6 engine within the above VIN range have been manufactured to an incorrect specification and in some cases there is an excess of Oxides of Nitrogen (NOx) emissions caused by catalyst monitor diagnostic operation.
Action: Retailers are to update the affected vehicles by reconfiguring the Engine Control Module software as outlined in the Repair Procedure below.
Owners will be notified by Customer Letter of the Recall with the request that they contact a Retailer to have the update performed. At the time of customer appointment ensure that all outstanding service campaigns for the individual vehicle are identified, and allocate sufficient time and resources to complete all campaigns.
To identify repaired vehicles, US Retailers must complete and install a Service Action 'Authorized Modifications' label on the radiator support panel.
California Retailers are required by the California Code of Regulations to complete a salmon-colored 'Vehicle Emissions Recall - Proof of Correction' certificate. This form must be provided to the customer for vehicles registered in California when the Recall work has been completed.
