CONDITION SUMMARY

ADAPTIVE LIGHTING SOFTWARE MALFUNCTION

A customer may complain that the adaptive lighting feature is inoperative. Although the headlamps illuminate correctly when turned on, the leveling and swiveling feature does not operate on either lamp when the steering wheel is turned or during "calibration" at the time the lights are initially switched on. The AFS warning lamp does not illuminate to signal that the fault exists. DTCs are not stored to be read by WDS.

Cause:  A software error within the control module exists. The problem cannot be cleared and reprogrammed using T4/WDS.

Action:  When a customer complains of inoperative adaptive lighting, perform the Service Procedure detailed in this bulletin and replace the lighting control module.
