Navigation System Diagnostics: Notes

The navigation computer has an on-board diagnostics capability to allow the functionality of the following to be tested:

NOTE: The TSD physical buttons and the touch screen virtual icons can be tested using the TSD diagnostics detailed in the AUDIO SYSTEM Navigation system fault codes can also be accessed from the TSD diagnostics where Denso and the corresponding Land Rover codes are displayed.
NOTE: Fault codes can also be retrieved using T4.
NOTE: The navigation computer only displays Denso fault codes. Refer to the table later in this information for the corresponding Land Rover codes or view the codes using the TSD diagnostics detailed AUDIO SYSTEM .

Use the following procedure to get access to the diagnostic screens.

  1. Insert the vehicle key in the ignition switch and turn to the ignition position II.
  2. Once the 'CAUTION' screen has been displayed, press the 'AGREE' virtual button in the bottom right hand corner of the TSD.
  3. If the screen displayed is not the navigation screen, press the 'Navigation' physical button on the TSD to enter the navigation mode. Press the 'Home' virtual icon in the bottom left hand corner of the screen to display the 'Navigation menu'.
  4. In a central position at the top of the TSD, press the screen and hold for more than 5 seconds. An 'Enter Diag PIN' entry box will appear.
  5. In the 'Diag PIN Entry' box, enter the diagnostic PIN entry code of '753' and press the 'OK' virtual icon on the TSD. An 'On-Screen Diagnostics' menu screen will appear.
  6. The following selections can be made from the 'On-Screen Diagnostics' menu screen.
    • Navigation Information
    • Parts Information
    • Manual Check
    • Self Check
  7. Once a screen display is complete, you can return to the previous menu screen by pressing the return virtual icon in the top right hand corner of the TSD.
  8. Navigation Information This screen allows the following selections; Vehicle signals, GPS Information, Reset Position.

    Vehicle Gyro Signals 

    • This screen displays vehicle information to check that vehicle inputs are operating correctly, e.g. parking brake, reverse detection, wheel speed input etc. Navigation computer gyro operation can also be checked by driving the vehicle and noting the change in values as the vehicle turns.

    GPS Information 

    • This screen displays the relative positions of each satellite that the system can detect. This can vary depending on the position of the vehicle and location of buildings etc.

    Reset Position 

    • This screen allows the option to reset the vehicle position to the current installed map default.
  9. Parts Information This screen displays the components fitted to the vehicle and their current status. It also displays the version of the map DVD and the data version.
  10. Manual Check The following selections can be made from the 'Navi Manual Check' screen:
    • Navi RGB Test
    • Voice Output Test
    • Microphone Test
  11. Once a screen display is complete, you can return to the previous menu screen by pressing the return virtual icon in the top right hand corner of the TSD.

    Navi RGB Test 

    • This screen displays the five display colors. Each colour can be checked by pressing the colour text virtual icon. the screen will change to the selected colour to check that the screen colour is displayed evenly across the whole screen area. Pressing the screen will return the colour selection.

    Voice Output Test 

    • This screen displays the 'Navi voice Output Test' screen Two virtual icons are available to test the voice output of the system. Pressing the 'normal' icon will cause the system to emit a quiet short tone. Pressing the 'max' icon will cause the system to emit a louder short tone.

    Microphone Test 

    • This screen displays the 'Microphone Test' screen. This allows the voice/telephone switch on the steering wheel to be tested and also allows the microphone input to be tested. Speaking at normal level will display the input level on the screen.
  12. Self Check The 'Self Check' screen will perform an internal diagnostic routine and display any Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTC) found. The DTC displayed is a 'Denso' DTC which can be translated into a Land Rover DTC using the following table.
