Remote Transmitter

The remote transmitter has 2 buttons, lock/superlock and unlock. Transmitter operation is as follows:

Remote transmitter locking signals are encoded via a rolling code algorithm. BECM has a capture range of 100 codes after previously received code. The remote transmitter can be operated up to 100 times, out of range of the vehicle before synchronization with BECM is lost. Code sequence is stored in BECM RAM and resynchronization will be required if vehicle battery is disconnected for any length of time. Decoding of remote transmitter signal is performed by BECM and not the radio frequency receiver. BECM uses a code taken from a 14-digit lockset bar code, factory programmed into BECM. The BECM compares this code with code transmitted by remote transmitter to ensure that the correct code for the vehicle is being transmitted. Once programmed, code cannot be changed. If a new lockset is required, the BECM must be replaced to match replacement lockset bar code.
