CHANGE TO MESSAGE CENTER FUNCTIONALITY

SITUATION

REVISED MESSAGE CENTER FUNCTION

Vehicles after the above VIN have been filled with a new BeCM (AMR6531) with revised functionality. Two basic areas of change have been made:

• Certain messages have been removed and will no longer be displayed.
• Conditions have been modified for the display of some messages.

These revisions have been made to improve customer satisfaction and to avoid information "clutter." These changes are:

1. The "Traction" message has been deleted and will never appear.
2. The "Electrical Fault" message will only appear if there is a communication fault between the BeCM and the Instrument Pack. Previously is appeared when there was an internal fault in the BeCM also.
3. To avoid spurious messages during cranking, the following messages are inhibited from display during, and for one second after, cranking:

   "Traction, Overheat, Traction Failure, EAS Manual, EAS Fault, Slow 35 mph max, Slow 20 mph max, Slow 55 kph, Slow 30 kph, ABS Fault, Sport, Manual"

4. "Rear Window On" and "Rear Window Off" messages are not displayed on every change of the switch. If the windows have been switched on or off with the ignition in the off position, the message center will display the status of the rear windows when the ignition is switched back on. This display will be accompanied by a "beep."

RESOLUTION

NEW BeCM UNIT FOR REPLACEMENT

Be aware of the new functionality when explaining BeCM activity to owners of new vehicles. When a new BeCM is installed on an older vehicle the functionality will be the same as that described above and will therefore differ from what a customer has become used to.
