Automatic Transmission Vehicles

CAUTION: It is potentially hazardous if the memory store or recall is possible without the parking brake or park/neutral applied or with the vehicle speed above 4 mph. The cause must be immediately investigated. See SYMPTOM INDEX  table under SYSTEM TESTS.
NOTE: Memory position, store and recall is only possible when the following conditions apply: Driver's door is open or ignition AUX or IGN; and parking brake applied; or park/neutral is engaged; vehicle speed is less than 4 mph.
  1. If memory position recall/store is possible without the parking brake applied (vehicle stationary), it is essential to check the following:
    • Parking brake signal to the ECU.
    • Park/neutral signal to the ECU.
    • ECU.
  2. If memory recall is possible with the parking brake applied or park/neutral engaged, and vehicle speed above 4 mph, it is essential to check the following:
    • Park/neutral signal to the ECU.
    • Speed signal to the ECU.
    • ECU.
  3. If memory position store/recall function is NOT possible after applying the parking brake or engaging park/neutral, check the following:
    • Parking brake signal system continuity check.
    • Park/neutral signal.
    • ECU.
