Fuel Temperature Sensor

Fuel temperature sensor is located in fuel rail forward of ram housing (1990-1992 model year) or in fuel rail on right side of ram housing (1993-Early 1995 model year). Fuel temperature sensor sends fuel temperature data to ECM. Upon receiving data, ECM will adjust injector open time accordingly to produce good hot starting in high ambient temperatures.

The fuel temperature sensor decreases its resistance with an increase in temperature. The ECM applies a voltage signal to the fuel temperature sensor. The ECM detects a small current when the fuel is at a low temperature and a larger current with a high temperature.
