Steering Column: Installation

  1. Place the sealing gasket on the end of the column assembly.
  2. Feed the steering shaft through the floor board and engage the drive splines at the coupling shaft.
  3. Install the column upper fixings. DO NOT fully tighten at this stage.
  4. Install the column lower fixings. DO NOT fully tighten at this stage.
  5. Tighten the lower fixings to 27 N.m (20 ft. lbs.).
  6. Fit the universal joint pinch bolt, and tighten to 35 N.m (26 ft. lbs.).
  7. Tighten the column upper fixings to 27 N.m (20 ft. lbs.).
  8. Reverse removal procedures Steps 1)  -4)  .
