Steering Column Lock Assembly: Removal

NOTE: For ignition/starter switch removal and installation, see appropriate STEERING COLUMN SWITCHES article.

1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Carefully detach the steering wheel center cover
3. Release the fixings securing the shroud to the steering column and withdraw the shroud.
4. Release the column switches from the switch housing to gain access to the column lock fixings.
5. Using a sharp punch and a hammer, lightly tap the head of the shear pins in a counterclockwise direction to release them from the column lock housing. See Fig 1 .
6. Remove the sheared bolts.
7. Detach the upper cap.
8. Remove the lower column lock assembly.
