Engine Disassembly: Thermostat: Testing

  1. Note temperature stamped on thermostat at which it should be fully open should be 88°C (190°F). See Fig 1.
  2. Place thermostat and thermometer in container of water. See Fig 2.
  3. Heat water and observe temperature at which thermostat opens.
  4. If faulty, discard thermostat.
