Removal And Installation: Removal
- Align the steering wheel straight.
- Turn the IG to 'OFF'.
- Disconnect the battery negative (-) terminal and the service interlock connector.
- Remove the upper battery cover (A) by rotating valve in the direction of the arrow.
- Disconnect the auxiliary 12 V negative (-) battery terminal (A) after loosening the nut.
Tightening torque:
7.8 - 9.8 N.m (0.8 - 1.0 kgf.m, 5.8 - 7.2 lb.ft)
- Remove the engine room junction box cover (A).
- Disconnect the service interlock connector (A).WARNING: Wait more than 3 minutes for capacitor in the inverter to be discharged completely after disconnecting the high voltage service interlock connector.
- Remove the upper battery cover (A) by rotating valve in the direction of the arrow.
- Fix the steering wheel (A) to prevent movement using a tool such as the steering wheel holder (B).NOTE: Changing the clockspring neutral position by rotating the steering wheel with the steering column universal joint removed may result in an open circuit and faulty folding of the cable inside the clockspring after installation.
- Remove the knee air bag module.
(Refer to Restraint - "KNEE AIRBAG (KAB) MODULE ")
- Remove the bolt, and then separate the universal joint (A) from the steering gear box.
Tightening torque:
49.0 - 58.8 N.m (5.0 - 6.0 kgf.m, 36.2 - 43.4 lb.ft)
NOTE: Do not reuse the universal joint assembly bolt. - Remove the bolt, and then remove the universal joint assembly (A).
Tightening torque:
49.0 - 58.8 N.m (5.0 - 6.0 kgf.m, 36.2 - 43.4 lb.ft)
NOTE: Do not reuse the steering universal joint bolt.
