Removal And Installation: Removal

Disconnect the battery negative (-) terminal and the service interlock connector.

Remove the upper battery cover (A) by rotating valve in the direction of the arrow.

Disconnect the auxiliary 12 V negative (-) battery terminal (A) after loosening the nut.

Tightening torque:

7.8 - 9.8 N.m (0.8 - 1.0 kgf.m, 5.8 - 7.2 lb.ft)

Remove the engine room junction box cover (A).

Disconnect the service interlock connector (A).

WARNING: Wait more than 3 minutes for capacitor in the inverter to be discharged completely after disconnecting the high voltage service interlock connector.

Remove the MDPS column and housing.
(Refer to Motor Driven Power Steering - "MDPS COLUMN AND HOUSING ")
Remove the MDPS power pack assembly (A) after removing the screws.
Tightening torque:

7.8 - 11.8 N.m (0.8 - 1.2 kgf.m, 5.8 - 8.7 lb.ft)

Disconnect the MDPS power pack assembly connector (A).
