Removal And Installation: Removal

Turn the IG OFF, separate the auxiliary battery (12 V) (-) terminal, and disconnect the high voltage service interlock connector.

Separate the auxiliary battery (12 V) (-) terminal (A) after removing the nut.

Tightening torque:

7.8 - 9.8 N.m (0.8 - 1.0 kgf.m, 5.8 - 7.2 lb.ft)

Remove the PE room junction box cover (A).

WARNING:

Wait more than 5 minutes for capacitor of the high voltage battery system to be discharged completely.
Do not close the PE room junction box cover as the high voltage service interlock connector may be connected.

NOTE: The high voltage service interlock connector cannot be completely removed.

Remove the driver airbag module.
(Refer to Restraint - " DRIVER AIRBAG (DAB) MODULE AND CLOCK SPRING ")
Disconnect the steering wheel connector (A).

Remove the steering wheel (A) after removing the bolt.
Tightening torque:

39.2 - 49.0 N.m (4.0 - 5.0 kgf.m, 28.9 - 36.2 lb.ft)

NOTE:
- Do not use a hammer when removing steering wheel, the steering column may be damaged if using a hammer.
- Do not reuse the steering wheel bolt.
- Mark the 3 points (A) at the steering wheel and column shaft installation point.
