Inspection Procedure
■ Inspection of Intake/Exhaust System
- Vacuum hoses for splits, kinks and improper connections.
- Throttle body gasket.
- Gasket between intake manifold and cylinder head.
- Seals between intake manifold and fuel injectors.
- Exhaust system between O2 sensor and the three way catalyst for air leakage.
- Air cleaner filter element for excessive dirt or for any foreign objects.
- Throttle body inlet for damage or for any foreign objects.
- Throttle bore and throttle plate for chocking and for any foreign objects.
- Restricted exhaust system.
■ Inspection of fuel line
- Check whether a fuel filer would be stuck or not.
- Check a fuel level.
- Check whether leak a low pressure fuel or it is stuck.
- Measure a fuel pressure in idle after installing a fuel pressure measurement gauge.
- Specification: Approx. 480 to 520 kPa (Approx. 4.8 to 5.2 bar, Approx. 4.89 to 5.3 kgf/cm2 )
■ Inspection of injector
- Measure a resistance injector.
- MPI injector specification: Approx. 11.4 to 12.6Ω (20°C (68°F))
- GDI injector specification: Approx. 1.4 to 1.7Ω (20°C (68°F))
■ Inspection of engine pressure
- Engine coolant temperature could be became between 80 and 95°C (176 to 203°F) after starting a engine and stop.
- Disconnect an injector extension connector and an ignition coil connector.
- Disconnect an ignition coil and an ignition plug.
- Install a pressure gauge to ignition plug hole.
- A throttle valve is full opened.
- Measure a pressure after cranking at least 20 times.
- Normal Value
- Specification: 10.5 kgf/cm2 (200 to 250rpm)
- Limitation: 9.0 kgf/cm2
- Deviation each one cylinder pressure: 1.0 kgf/cm2 or less
Good
- Check engine coolant system leakage, deterioration, or damage. If the problem is corrected, check coolant in, engine block, cylinder head. If the problem is corrected, replace as necessary and then Go to "VERIFICATION OF REPAIR " procedure.
No Good
- Repair as necessary and Go to "VERIFICATION OF REPAIR " procedure.
