High Pressure Fuel Pump: Installation
- After checking the pump drive cam position, place the cam position to BDC (Bottom Dead Center) by turning the damper pulley in the direction of clockwise.NOTE: If the oil pump is installed in a position other than the BDC, the following problems may occur.
- O-rings may be damaged due to incomplete tightening.
- High pressure fuel pump piston tightening bolt thread may be damaged.
- Apply engine oil to the O-ring (A), roller tappet (B), protrusion (C) and mounting groove of the high pressure fuel pump.NOTE: The O-ring should be replaced with a new one.
- After installing the high pressure fuel pump (A) and the roller tappet, tighten the bolts by hand.NOTE:
- When tightening the installation bolts of the high pressure fuel pump, pre-tighten the bolts by hand, and then fully tighten in turns in small steps (0.5 turns).
- Do not reuse the bolts.
- Tighten the high pressure fuel pump bolts with specified torque.
Tightening torque:
12.8 - 14.7 N.m (1.3 - 1.5 kgf.m, 9.4 - 10.8 lb.ft)
- Connect the fuel pressure control valve connector (A).
- Install the air cleaner.
(Refer to Engine Mechanical System - "AIR CLEANER ")
- Install the high pressure fuel pipe [High Pressure Fuel Pump ↔ High Pressure Delivery Pipe].
(Refer to Engine Control/Fuel System - "FUEL LINE ")
NOTE: The high pressure fuel pipe should be replaced with a new one. - Connect the low pressure fuel tube quick-connector (A) to high pressure fuel pump and close the clamp cover.
- Install the high pressure fuel pump foam (A).
- Connect the battery negative (-) terminal.
- Check for the fuel leakage after installation.
