Removal And Installation
- Remove the front wheel and tire.
(Refer to Tires/Wheels - "WHEEL ")
- Disconnect the stabilizer link (A) from the front strut assembly by loosening the nut.
Tightening torque:
98.1 - 117.7 N.m (10.0 - 12.0 kgf.m, 72.3 - 86.8 lb.ft)
NOTE:- When loosening the nut, fix the outer hexagon of stabilizer bar link.
- Be careful not to damage the stabilizer link boots.
- Disconnect the tie rod end ball joint from the knuckle by using the SST (09568-2J100).
- Remove the split pin (A).
- Remove the castle nut (B).
Tightening torque:
98.1 - 117.7 N.m (10.0 - 12.0 kgf.m, 72.3 - 86.8 lb.ft)
- Disconnect the tie rod end ball joint from the knuckle by using the SST (09568-2J100).
- Remove the split pin (A).
- Remove the lower arm ball joint mounting bolt and nut (B).
Tightening torque:
98.1 - 117.7 N.m (10.0 - 12.0 kgf.m, 72.3 - 86.8 lb.ft)
- Remove the front lower arm from the front knuckle using the SST (0K545-A9100).
- After removing bolts from the front knuckle, install and tighten the sub body bolt (A).
- Insert the sub body (B) between the front knuckle and the sub body bolt.
- Tighten the bolt (C) sub body to broaden the gap of the front knuckle.
- Install the safe wire (A).
- Install the main body (A) between the front strut and the lower arm.
- To avoid the main body coming off, install a fixing clamp (A) beside the main body and then rotate the handle (B) clockwise until the clamp is fixed on the lower arm.
- Tighten the main body bolt (A) slowly and remove the lower arm from the front knuckle.
- Loosen the bolt (A) and then remove the universal joint (B).
Tightening torque:
32.4 - 37.3 N.m (3.3 - 3.8 kgf.m, 23.9 - 27.5 lb.ft)
NOTE:- Always use a new bolt.
- Lock the steering wheel in the straight ahead position to prevent the damage of the clock spring inner cable.
- Assemble so that the universal joint hole is inserted matching the cut surface of the pinion shaft.
- Remove the engine room under cover.
(Refer to Engine Mechanical System - "ENGINE ROOM UNDER COVER ")
- Remove the roll rod bracket (A).
Tightening torque:
Bolt (B):
107.9 - 127.5 N.m (11.0 - 13.0 kgf.m, 79.6 - 94.0 lb.ft)
Bolt (C):
49.0 - 63.7 N.m (5.0 - 6.5 kgf.m, 36.2 - 47.0 lb.ft)
NOTE: Always use a new bolt (B). - Disconnect the front muffler rubber hanger (A).
- Support the sub frame (A) with a jack and then loosen the sub frame bolts and nuts.
Tightening torque:
Bolts (B), Nuts (C): 44.1 - 58.8 N.m (4.5 - 6.0 kgf.m, 32.5 - 43.4 lb.ft)
Bolts (D), Nuts (E): 176.6 - 196.2 N.m (18.0 - 20.0 kgf.m, 130.2 - 144.7 lb.ft)
- Remove the sub frame (A).
- Remove the heat protector (A).
Tightening torque:
7.8 - 11.8 N.m (0.8 - 1.2 kgf.m, 5.8 - 8.7 lb.ft)
- Remove the steering gear box (A) by loosening the bolts.
Tightening torque:
107.9 - 127.5 N.m (11.0 - 13.0 kgf.m, 79.6 - 94.0 lb.ft)
- Remove the stabilizer bar (A) by loosening the bolts.
Tightening torque
49.0 - 63.7 N.m (5.0 - 6.5 kgf.m, 36.2 - 47.0 lb.ft)
- Remove the lower arm (A) from the sub frame.
Tightening torque
B: 117.7 - 137.3 N.m (12.0 - 14.0 kgf.m, 86.8 - 101.3 lb.ft)
C: 157.0 - 176.6 N.m (16.0 - 18.0 kgf.m, 115.7 - 130.2 lb.ft)
- Install in the reverse order of removal.
- Check the wheel alignment.
