KDS SMART CHECK AND ENHANCEMENT FEATURES

TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN

SERVICE INFORMATION

This bulletin provides information on the new KDS Smart Check and Enhancement Features released December 15, 2020. These features will assist the Kia Service Technicians find important service information quicker and easier on the KDS.

Two of the new features are found on the KDS home page, Smart Check  and Enhanced Search  .

KDS Enhancement features include the following: 

• Enhanced Search  - designed to enhance KDS search with same functionality as KGIS search (page 2), Additional Features of Enhanced Search  (page 4).
• Smart Check  - provides a one-stop vehicle check supporting DTCs, Bulletins, Vehicle Specification, Vehicle History, etc. (page 5).
• Activity Mode for Data Analysis  - provides simple at a glance data activity to help locate open or short (page 6).

HOW TO USE ENHANCED SEARCH

1. Connect the VCI-II to the OBD-II connector, located under the driver's side of the instrument panel.
2. With the ignition ON, turn On the KDS tablet. Select KDS from the home screen.
3. Confirm communication with VCI-II (A) and then configure the vehicle selection (B) using the AUTO VIN (C) feature.
4. Select Enhanced Search (D) from the home screen.
5. Select Vehicle Information  (E) and KDS search will begin and display:
   1. KMA Local VIN info
   2. PIO Information
   3. Vehicle Specification
   4. Campaign History
   5. Service Action History
   6. Warranty History

ADDITIONAL FEATURES OF ENHANCED SEARCH

1. DTC List will be updated along with VIN/Model information when DTC Scan is performed.
2. Service material to be searched (Select or Deselect indicate categories) 
3. Date range preset from 01/01/1995 to current date is default value. Can be changed to narrow your search result.
4. Reset  will initialize the search factors and clear previously searched results

HOW TO USE SMART CHECK

1. Select Smart Check  (A) from the home screen.
2. Select TSB  (B) to display TSB.
3. Select to PRINT or SAVE  (C) icons to print or save file.

HOW TO USE ACTIVITY MODE

1. Select Data Analysis  or Multi Data Analysis  (A) from the home screen
2. Select the (one) applicable 'System'  (B) to monitor, then select 'OK'  to proceed.
3. Select Data points  (C) to monitor.
4. Select Activity  button (D) to change view.

   Can be useful when performing harness wiggle test and quickly see data change in Realtime.
