Removal And Installation

  1. Disconnect the (-) battery terminal.
  2. Remove the universal joint (A) after loosening the bolt (B).

    Tightening torque: 

    32.3 - 37.2 N.m (3.3 - 3.8 kgf.m, 23.8 - 27.4 lb.ft)

  3. Remove the front wheel and tire.

    (Refer to Suspension System - "WHEEL ")

  4. Disconnect the stabilizer link (A) from the front strut assembly after loosening the nut.

    Tightening torque: 

    98.0 - 117.6 N.m (10.0 - 12.0 kgf.m, 72.3 - 86.7 lb.ft)

    NOTE:
    • When loosening the nut (B), hold the stabilizer bar link stud using hex socket or wrench.
    • Be careful not to damage the stabilizer link boots.
  5. Disconnect the tie rod end ball joint from the knuckle by using the SST (09568-1S100).
    1. Remove the split pin (A).
    2. Remove the castle nut (B).

      Tightening torque: 

      34.3 - 44.1 N.m (3.5 - 4.5 kgf.m, 25.3 - 32.5 lb.ft)

    3. Disconnect the tie rod end ball joint from the knuckle by using the SST (09568-1S100).

  6. Loosen the lower arm mounting bolt and nut (A).

    Tightening torque: 

    58.8 - 70.6 N.m (6.0 - 7.2 kgf.m, 43.4 - 52.1 lb.ft)

  7. Detach the front lower arm from the front knuckle using the SST (0K545-A9100).
    1. After removing bolts from the front knuckle, install and tighten the sub body bolt (A).

    2. Insert the sub body (B) between the front knuckle and the sub body bolt.
    3. Tighten the bolt (C) sub body to broaden the gap of the front knuckle.

    4. Install the main body (A) after fixing it with a wire to prevent SST from falling.

    5. Install the body (A) and rotate the handle (B) clockwise until the clamp is fixed on the lower arm.

    6. Tighten the main body bolt (A) slowly and remove the lower arm from the front knuckle.

  8. Remove the engine room under cover.

    G 1.6 T-GDI GAMMA  (Refer to Engine Mechanical System - "ENGINE ROOM UNDER COVER ")

    G 2.0 Nu MPI  (Refer to Engine Mechanical System - "ENGINE ROOM UNDER COVER ")

  9. Support the sub frame with a jack and then remove the roll rod bracket (A).

    Tightening torque: 

    107.8 - 127.4 N.m (11 - 13 kgf.m, 79.5 - 94.0 lb.ft)

  10. Disconnect the front muffler rubber hanger (A).

  11. Remove the sub frame from the body by loosening the mounting bolts and nuts.

    Tightening torque: 

    Bolts (B): 44.1 - 58.8 N.m (4.5 - 6.0 kgf.m, 32.5 - 43.4 lb.ft), Bolt (C): 176.6 - 196.2 N.m (18.0 - 20.0 kgf.m, 130.1 - 144.6 lb.ft)

    Nuts (D): 176.6 - 196.2 N.m (18.0 - 20.0 kgf.m, 130.1 - 144.6 lb.ft)

  12. Remove the stabilizer bar (A) by loosening the bolts.

    Tightening torque: 

    49.0 - 63.7 N.m (5.0 - 6.5 kgf.m, 36.2 - 47.0 lb.ft)

  13. Remove the heat protector (A) by loosening the bolts.

    Tightening torque 

    6.9 - 10.8 N.m (0.7 - 1.1 kgf.m, 5.1 - 8.0 lb.ft)

  14. Remove the steering gear box (A) by loosening the bolts.

    Tightening torque 

    88.3 - 107.9 N.m (9.0 - 11.0 kgf.m, 65.1 - 79.6 lb.ft)

  15. Install in the reverse order of removal.
  16. Check the wheel alignment.
