System Inspection: Notes
Intake/Exhaust System For Restriction Or Leakage
- Refer to
"appropriate service information" and visually and/or physically inspect following conditions;
- Vacuum hoses for splits, kinks and improper connections.
- Throttle Body Gasket.
- Gasket between Intake Manifold and Cylinder head.
- T Seals between Intake Manifold and Fuel Injectors.
- Exhaust system between O2 sensor and the Three way catalyst for air leakage.
- Air Cleaner filter element for excessive dirt or for any foreign objects.
- Throttle body inlet for damage or for any foreign objects.
- Throttle bore and throttle plate for chocking and for any foreign objects.
- Restricted exhaust system.
- Has any problems been found?
YES
- Repair as necessary and then go to "VERIFICATION OF VEHICLE REPAIR " procedure.
NO
- Fault might be intermittent and caused either by poor contact in connectors or wiring harness, or it has been repaired and control module memory is not cleared yet. Thoroughly check terminal of battery, all connectors (and connections) for looseness, bending, corrosion, contamination, deterioration, and/or damage.
- Repair or replace as necessary and then go to "VERIFICATION OF VEHICLE REPAIR " procedure.
PCSV Actuation Test
- Connect KDS to Data Link Connector(DLC).
- Ignition "ON" & Engine "OFF"
- Perform "Canister Purge Valve" in "Actuation Test" with KDS.
- Monitor "Canister Control Valve" parameter in "Current Data" with KDS.
Specification: Refer to Figure below
- Is the parameter displayed within specification?
YES
- Go to "Canister Close Valve Actuation Test" procedure below.
NO
- Repair as necessary and then go to "VERIFICATION OF VEHICLE REPAIR " procedure.
Canister Close Valve Actuation Test
- Connect KDS to Data Link Connector(DLC).
- Ignition "ON" & Engine "OFF"
- Perform "Canister Shut Off Valve(OBD-2 Only)" and "Canister Shut Off Valve Clocked(OBD-2 Only)" in "Actuation Test" with KDS.
- Monitor "Canister Close Valve(Option)" parameter in "Current Data" with KDS.

- Is the parameter displayed within specification?
YES
- Go to "CANISTER INSPECTION " procedure.
NO
- Repair as necessary and then go to "VERIFICATION OF VEHICLE REPAIR " procedure.
