Repair Procedures: Removal

WARNING:
  • Be sure to read and follow the "GENERAL SAFETY INFORMATION & CAUTION " before doing any work related with the high voltage system. Failure to follow the safety instructions may result in serious electrical injuries.
  • Be sure to shut off the high voltage circuit according to the "HIGH VOLTAGE SHUTOFF PROCEDURE " before doing any work related with the high voltage system to avoid serious electrical injuries.
  1. Shut off the high voltage circuit.

    (Refer to Engine Mechanical System - "HIGH VOLTAGE SHUT OFF PROCEDURE ")

  2. Remove the cylinder head cover.

    (Refer to Cylinder Head Assembly - "CYLINDER HEAD COVER ")

  3. Set No. 1 cylinder to TDC (Top dead center) on compression stroke.
    1. Turn the crankshaft pulley and align its groove with the timing mark of the timing chain cover.

    2. Check that the TDC marks of the intake and exhaust CVVT sprockets are in straight line on the cylinder head surface as shown below. If not, turn the crankshaft by one revolution (360°) more.

      NOTE: Do not turn the crankshaft pulley counterclockwise.
  4. Remove the timing chain cover.

    (Refer to Timing System - "TIMING CHAIN COVER ")

  5. Remove the timing chain tensioner (A).

    NOTE: Do not reuse the detached tensioner.
  6. Remove the timing chain tensioner arm (A).

  7. Remove the timing chain (A).

  8. Remove the timing chain guide (A).
