Oil Inspection: Notes

The oil is used to lubricate the compressor. Since the oil circulated in the system while the compressor is in operation, make sure to replenish oil to maintain the original amount of oil when the components in the system is replaced or a large amount of gas is leaked.

Total Amount of Oil in the System:  REF POE-1 Oil 180 ± 10 cc (6.34 ± 0.35 oz.)

CAUTION:
  • The electric compressor of electric vehicle using high voltage uses POE oil of high insulating performance.
  • Use a separate equipment (refrigerant retrieval/charging device) for maintenance of a hybrid vehicle to prevent the PAG oil of a general vehicle from flowing in upon retrieving/refilling the refrigerant.
WARNING:
  • Use the refrigerant retrieval/charge device exclusively used for the electric compressor to inject the designated refrigerant (R-1234yf) and refrigeration oil (POE). If the refrigeration oil (PAG) for the ordinary car is injected, the compressor may be damaged or a safety-related accident may occur.
  • When the refrigeration oil (PAG) for the ordinary car is injected, replace the electric compressor with a new one, and clean the inside of the AC system (condenser, duct, evaporator, etc.).
  1. How to Handle the Oil
    1. Do not let moisture, dust or metallic strips enter the oil.
    2. Do not mix the oil.
    3. If the oil is exposed to the air for a long time after use, it absorbs the moisture. Make sure to close the container after use.
  2. Check the compressor oil in the following order before inspecting the compressor oil level or putting oil into the compressor which is being adjusted for use.
    1. Discharge the oil from the system line connections.
      NOTE:
      • If it is difficult to discharge oil when the compressor is cooled down, heat the compressor a little and discharge the oil at approx. 40 - 50°C.
    2. Measure the amount of discharged oil. If the amount of oil is less than 70 cc, the oil has been leaked a little. Perform leakage test in the connection part of each system, and repair or replace the defected parts if necessary.
    3. After checking the status of the oil, adjust the level of oil in the following order.
