DTC P0107: Manifold Absolute Pressure/Barometric Pressure Circuit Low Input: General Description
The amount of intake air flow must be entered to the ECM/PCM in order to determine the fuel injection duration. The Manifold Absolute Pressure Sensor (MAPS) calculates the amount of air indirectly by measuring the pressure inside of the intake manifold. The MAPS is a Speed-Density Type sensor transfers an analog output signal which is proportional to the change of intake manifold pressure, then, with this signal as well as RPM, the ECM/PCM calculates the amount of intake air flow. The MAPS is mounted on the surge tank to measure the pressure inside of the intake manifold, and consists of a piezo electric element and hybrid Integrated Circuit (IC), which amplifies output signal from the element. A piezo electric element is a diaphragm using piezo electric effect. One side of the diaphragm is surrounded by a vacuum chamber, while intake pressure is applied to the other side. A signal is sent to the ECM/PCM according to the change in pressure inside of the intake manifold.
