Repair Procedures: Replacement

Information 

Severe driving conditions

1. Driving on dusty or rough roads
2. Driving in mountainous areas
3. Driving patrol cars, taxis, commercial cars or wreck cars.
4. Driving over 170Km/h

* Transfer oil must be replaced if the transfer assembly was submerged in water.

1. Remove the under cover.

   (Refer to Engine Mechanical System - "ENGINE ROOM UNDER COVER ")

2. Drain the transfer oil after loosening the drain plug (A).

3. Install the drain plug with new gasket.

   Tightening torque: 

   58.9 - 78.5 N.m (6.0 - 8.0 kgf.m, 43.4 - 57.9lb-ft)

4. Remove the oil filler plug (A).

5. Add new oil through the filler plug hole.

   Standard oil:  Hypoid gear oil API GL-5, SAE 75W/90 (SHELL HD AXLE OIL 75W/90 or equivalent)

   Oil capacity: 

   Diesel 2.2, Gasoline 2.4: Approximately 0.35 L ±5%L (0.09 U.S.gal., 0.37 U.S.qt, 0.31 Imp.qt.)

   Gasoline 3.3: Approximately 0.70 L ± 5%L (0.18 U.S.gal, 0.73 U.S.qt, 0.61 Imp.qt)

   Information 

   • Fill up to lower filler plug thread level.

6. Install the oil filler plug with new gasket.

   Tightening torque: 

   39.2 - 58.8 N.m (4.0 - 6.0 kgf.m, 28.9 - 43.4lb-ft)

7. Install the under cover.

   (Refer to Engine Mechanical System - "ENGINE ROOM UNDER COVER ")
