Removal and Installation

  1. Remove the engine cover.

    (Refer to Engine and Transaxle Assembly - " ENGINE COVER  ") 

  2. Disconnect the battery negative terminal.
  3. Remove the air duct and air cleaner assembly.

    (Refer to Intake and Exhaust System - " AIR CLEANER  ") 

  4. Disconnect the wiring connectors and harness clamps and remove the connector brackets around the intake manifold.

  5. Remove the purge control solenoid valve (PCSV) bracket (A) from the intake manifold.

  6. Unfasten the electronic throttle body control (ETC) module bolts.

    (Refer to Engine Control/Fuel System - " ETC (ELECTRONIC THROTTLE CONTROL) SYSTEM  ") 

  7. Disconnect the positive crankcase ventilation (PCV) hose (A).

  8. Disconnect the brake vacuum hose (A).

  9. Remove the intake manifold (A).

    Tightening torque: 

    18.6 - 23.5 N.m (1.9 - 2.4 kgf.m, 13.7 - 17.4 lb.ft)

  10. Installation is reverse order of removal.
    NOTE:
    • When installing, replace with new intake manifold gasket (A) and electronic throttle body control (ETC) module gasket (B).

    • When installing the intake manifold, tighten the bolts and nuts with pre-torque first, and then tighten the bolts and nuts with specified torque in the sequence shown.
