In order to make normal activation of airbag system, Supplemental Restraints System Control Module (SRSCM) monitors the passenger side body sensor.
If the seat is occupied, body sensor detects how passenger weighs and send signal to SRSCM via CAN. The SRSCM recognizes the signal as three different classifications; that is, 0 (Empty), 1 (Small), 2 (Large). With these signal, SRSCM determines whether it needs to deploy passenger airbag (PAB) or not.
NOTE:
if any of the following conditions occur, 'Occupant Detecting System (WCS, PODS, BOSE) Reset must be performed again after checking occupant detecting system diagnostic codes.
- Passenger side body sensor ECU or seat cushion assy (except of seat track assy) is replaced.
- The telltale lamp is not illuminated when the passenger seat is not occupied.
- The telltale lamp is delayed more than 10 seconds to be turned off when an adult passenger seats in.
