Repair Procedures: Removal

WARNING:
  • Be sure to read and follow the "GENERAL SAFETY INFORMATION AND CAUTION " before doing any work related with the high voltage system. Failure to follow the safety instructions may result in serious electrical injuries.
  • Be sure to shut off the high voltage circuit according to the "High Voltage Shut-off Procedures" before doing any work related with the high voltage system to avoid serious electrical injuries.

Information 

The oil temperature sensor is integrated with the solenoid valve main connector and cannot be disassembled. The oil temperature sensor should be replaced with the solenoid valve main connector.

  1. Shift the gear to "N".
  2. Shut off the high voltage circuit.

    (Refer to Automatic Transaxle System - "HIGH VOLTAGE SHUT-OFF PROCEDURE ")

  3. Remove the under cover.

    (Refer to Engine Mechanical System - "ENGINE ROOM UNDER COVER ")

  4. Remove the ATF drain plug (A), allow the fluid to drain out and then reinstall the drain plug.

    Tightening torque  :

    33.3 - 43.1 N.m (3.4 - 4.4 kgf.m, 24.6 - 31.8 lb.ft)

    NOTE: The existing ATF drain plug gasket must be replaced with a new one. (Do not reuse it.)
  5. Drain the coolant of engine & transaxle cooling system.

    (Refer to Engine Mechanical System - "COOLANT ")

  6. Drain the coolant of hybrid motor cooling system.

    (Refer to Hybrid Motor System - "COOLANT ")

  7. Remove the air cleaner assembly and air duct.

    (Refer to Engine Mechanical System - "AIR CLEANER ")

  8. Remove the hybrid power control unit (HPCU) assembly.

    (Refer to Hybrid Control System - "HYBRID POWER CONTROL UNIT ")

  9. Separate the cooler hose (A).

  10. Separate the ATF cooler hose (A) and remove the ATF cooler pipe (C) loosening the eyebolts (B).

    Tightening torque  :

    42.2 - 48.1 N.m (4.3 - 4.9 kgf.m, 31.1 - 35.4 lb.ft)

  11. Separate the breather hose (B) after removing the clamp (A).

  12. Remove the valve body cover (A) loosening the bolts.

    Tightening torque  :

    11.8 - 13.7 N.m (1.2 - 1.4 kgf.m, 8.7 - 10.1 lb.ft)

  13. Remove the main harness (C) and oil temperature sensor (B) after loosening the bolts (A).

    Tightening torque  :

    9.8 - 11.8 N.m (1.0 - 1.2 kgf.m, 7.2 - 8.7 lb.ft)

  14. Remove the valve body assembly (B) loosening the bolts (A).

    Tightening torque  :

    9.8 - 11.8 N.m (1.0 - 1.2 kgf.m, 7.2 - 8.7 lb.ft)

  15. Disconnect the input & output speed sensor connector (A).
  16. Loosen the solenoid valve harness bolts (B).

    Tightening torque  :

    9.8 - 11.8 N.m (1.0 - 1.2 kgf.m, 7.2 - 8.7 lb-ft)

  17. Disconnect the solenoid valve connector (A).

  18. Remove the clip (A) and then remove the connector by pushing it downward.

    Tightening torque  :

    9.8 - 11.8 N.m (1.0 - 1.2 kgf.m, 7.2 - 8.7 lb.ft)
