    Noise/malfunction Repair procedures

  3. Noise/malfunction Inspection
Symptom Fault description and inspection method Countermeasure
    Noise/rattle
    1. Noise generated near the MDPS column & housing.
      • Remove the surrounding parts and check whether the same noise occurs.
    • Replace the partial component of the column and housing
    • Replace the motor if the noise occurs
    Noise/rattle
    1. Check the handle and surrounding fastening parts.
      • Check DAB wiring arrangement, DAB, clock spring, multi-function switch, etc.
Check the noise of the relevant part
    • Perform a separate inspection.
    1. Check where the C-MDPS is installed.
      • Loosen the cowl fastening bolt and reassemble.

(including the through bolt fixing the lower part of the C-MDPS)

Check the installation of the cowl
    1. Check the fastening area of the universal joint bolt.
      • Completely remove the universal joint and check whether the noise occurs after the reinstallation.
Fasten with a new bolt if the universal joint bolt is worn
    1. Check free playing area of the column when steering while the vehicle is stopped.
      • Check the main wiring connected to the MDPS and column/interference around the shroud/friction
Keep spaces between the surrounding parts
    • Check free play around the wiring and column and inspect interference.
  4. Cautions to be taken while servicing
