Repair Procedures: Replacement
- Disconnect the battery negative cable.
- Turn the steering wheel so that the front wheels are facing straight ahead.
- Remove the driver airbag module.
(Refer to Restraint - "DRIVER AIRBAG (DAB) MODULE AND CLOCK SPRING ")
- Disconnect the connector.
- Loosen the lock bolt (A) and then remove the steering wheel.
Tightning torque:
39.2 - 49.0 N.m (4.0 - 5.0 kgf.m, 28.9 - 36.2 lb.ft)
CAUTION: Do not hammer on the steering wheel to remove it; it may damage the steering column. - Loosen the shroud upper and lower screw and then remove the shroud.
- Disconnect the connector and clip.
- Remove the clock spring.
(Refer to Restraint - "DRIVER AIRBAG (DAB) MODULE AND CLOCK SPRING ")
- Remove the multi function switch.
(Refer to Body Electrical System -"MULTIFUNCTION SWITCH ")
- Remove the crash pad.
(Refer to Body (Interior and Exterior) -"CRASH PAD ")
- Remove the knee air bag.
(Refer to Restraint - "KNEE AIR BAG(KAB) ")
- Remove the universal joint bolt (A).
Tightening torque:
29.4 - 34.3 N.m (3.0 - 3.5 kgf.m, 21.7 - 25.3 lb.ft)
CAUTION:- Keep the neutral-range to prevent the damaging of the clock spring inner cable when handing the steering wheel.
- Do not reuse the bolt.
- Loosen the steering column nuts (A).
Tightening torque:
24.5 - 29.4 N.m (2.5 - 3.0 kgf.m, 18.1 - 21.7 lb.ft)
- Disconnect the MDPS connector (A).
- Disconnect the MDPS connector (A).
- Loosen the steering column mounting bolt (A).
Tightening torque:
44.1 - 49.0 N.m (4.5 - 5.0 kgf.m, 32.5 - 36.2 lb.ft)
- Install in the reverse order of removal.
