DTC P062D: Fuel Injector Driver Circuit Performance (Bank 1): General Description
The Gasoline Direct Injection (GDI) injector is similar to a standard injector. With the GDI system, fuel is sprayed at a much higher pressure - up to 2000psi. This high pressure helps to atomize fuel. The GDI system controls both the feed and ground circuits. The ECM/PCM has two drivers on the feed side. One supplies system 12V and the other supplies 55V (V-boost) to injectors. Some ECM/PCMs pulse a 12V signal to get current moving through the injector. The ECM/PCM will send a boost signal around (55v) to open the injector. The ECM/PCM will pulse 12V to hold the injector open, the ECM/PCM then shuts off the pulsing 12V to close the injector.
