Signal Circuit Inspection

  1. Ignition "OFF".
  2. Refer to KNOCK SENSOR (KS) and disconnect Knock Sensor connector.
  3. Ignition "ON".
  4. Measure voltage between Pin No. 1 (Signal) terminal of Knock Sensor harness connector and chassis ground.

    Specification:  Approx. 1.6V

  5. Ignition "OFF".
  6. Disconnect Battery (-) terminal.
  7. Refer to KNOCK SENSOR (KS) and disconnect Knock Sensor connector.
  8. Measure resistance between Pin No. 1 (Signal) terminal of Knock Sensor harness connector and chassis ground.

    Specification:  ∞ (infinite)Ω

  9. Refer to KNOCK SENSOR (KS) and ENGINE CONTROL MODULE (ECM) and disconnect Knock Sensor and PCM connector.
  10. Measure resistance between Pin No. 1 (Signal) terminal of Knock Sensor harness connector and Pin No. 63 (Signal) terminal of PCM harness connector.

    Specification:  Approx. below 1Ω

  11. Is the measured value within specification?

    YES 

    NO
