Component Inspection
- Ignition "OFF"
- Connect VMI to KDS/GDS and set up an oscilloscope as follow (4-channel);
Channel A (+): Pin No. 2 (Signal) terminal of CKPS.
Channel A (-): Pin No. 2 (Signal) terminal of CMPS-Intake.
Channel B (+): Pin No. 2 (Signal) terminal of CMPS-Exhaust.
- Ignition "ON" & Engine "ON"
Specification: Refer to Figure below
A: CKPS & CMPS-Intake Synchronization - There are about 4 teeth between the CKPS missing tooth and CMPS In Signal
B: CKPS & CMPS-Exhaust Synchronization - There are about 16 teeth between the CKPS missing tooth and CMPS Ex Signal
- Is measured value within specification?
YES
- Repair or replace as necessary and then go to "VERIFICATION OF VEHICLE REPAIR " procedure.
NO
- Check the camshaft sprocket and crankshaft sprocket for abnormal wear, cracks, or damage and replace as necessary.
- Inspect the tensioner arm and chain guide for abnormal wear, cracks, or damage and replace as necessary.
- Check the tensioner piston moves smoothly when the ratchet pawl is released with thin rod.
- Perform applicable troubleshooting guide as necessary, and then go to "VERIFICATION OF VEHICLE REPAIR " procedure.
- If fail to synchronize with CMP sensor, check that the crankshaft and camshaft are correctly aligned the matching marks of the pulleys. Repair or readjust as necessary and go to "VERIFICATION OF VEHICLE REPAIR " procedure.
