SERVICE INFORMATION

This bulletin provides the procedure to affix an updated Vehicle Emissions Control Information (VECI) label on some 2018MY Stinger (CK) vehicles, equipped with Theta 2.0T engines, all 2015-2016MY Optima Hybrid (TF HEV), and some 2017MY Optima Hybrid (JF HEV) vehicles. An incorrect VECI label was affixed on these vehicles. If the VECI label is incorrect, the vehicle may fail the emission testing, even if it meets applicable emissions standards.

Follow the procedure outlined in this bulletin to inspect and/or affix the correct VECI label. Before conducting the procedure, verify that the vehicle is included in the list of affected VINs.

Please be aware that customers of the affected vehicles will be receiving the corrected VECI labels with the Campaign letter so they can apply them to their own vehicle; however customers will also be informed that they can request to have their dealer affix them if preferred.

NOTE: To assure complete customer satisfaction, always remember to refer to WebDCS Warranty Coverage (validation) Inquiry Screen (Service → Warranty Coverage → Warranty Coverage Inquiry) for a list of any additional campaigns that may need to be performed on the vehicle before returning it to the customer.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

Open the hood and locate the Vehicle Emissions Control Information (VECI) label.
Inspect the label and ensure the new VECI label has been applied.
- For Optima Hybrid (TF HEV, JF HEV) vehicles, see photos to the right for old and new labels.
- For Stinger (CK) vehicles, see photos on page 3 for old and new labels.
If a new VECI label has not been applied, proceed to the Label Installation procedure below.

If a new VECI label has been applied, no further action is required.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE

With the hood open, clean the surface of the incorrect VECI label with an alcohol wipe or an equivalent cleaner.
NOTE: Failure to clean the surface will prevent the new label from adhering properly.
Carefully affix the new provided VECI label over the old VECI label, ensuring complete coverage of the old label with the new.

NOTE: For Stinger (CK) vehicles, note that the RWD and AWD models require different labels.
