Repair Procedures: Removal

  1. Turn ignition OFF and disconnect the negative (-) battery cable.
  2. Remove the air cleaner assembly.

    (Refer to Engine Mechanical System - "AIR CLEANER ")

  3. Remove the battery and battery tray.

    (Refer to Engine Electrical System - "BATTERY REMOVAL ")

  4. Remove the surge tank.

    (Refer to Engine Mechanical System - "SURGE TANK ")

  5. Remove the horn.

    (Refer to Body Electrical System - "HORN ")

  6. Remove the bracket.

  7. Remove the engine hanger bracket.

  8. Pull up the lock of the ESP connector (A) and then disconnect the connector.
  9. Disconnect the brake tubes from the ESP by unlocking the nuts counterclockwise with a spanner.

    Tightening torque: 

    Flare nuts (B) 13.7 - 16.7 N.m (1.4 - 1.7 kgf.m, 10.1 - 12.2 lb.ft)

    Flare nuts (C) 18.6 - 22.6 N.m (1.9 - 2.3 kgf.m, 13.7 - 16.6 lb.ft)

  10. Loosen and remove the ESP control module bolt (A).

    NOTE:
    1. Do not attempt to disassemble the HECU.
    2. Do not impact the HECU.
