Repair Procedures: Removal

  1. Remove the front wheel and tire (A) from front hub.

    Tightening Torque: 

    88.3 ~ 107.9 N.m (9.0 ~ 11.0 kgf.m, 65.1 ~ 79.6 lb-ft)

    CAUTION: Be careful not to damage to the hub bolts when removing the rear wheel and tire (A).

  2. Unscrew the steering column bolt (A) to disconnect the universal joint and steering gear connection.

    Tightening Torque: 

    32.4 ~ 37.3N.m (3.3 ~ 3.8 kgf.m, 23.9 ~ 27.5lb-ft)

    CAUTION:
    • Keep the steering wheel in a neutral position. Moving the steering wheel may damage the cable inside the clock spring.
    • Do not use the bolt again.

  3. Remove the tie rod end ball joint from the knuckle.
    1. Remove the split pin (A).
    2. Remove the castle nut (B).
    3. Disconnect the ball joint (D) from knuckle (C) using the special tool (09568-2J100).

      Tightening Torque: 

      88.3 ~ 107.9 N.m (9.0 ~ 11.0 kgf.m, 65.1 ~ 79.6 lb-ft)

      CAUTION: Apply a few drops of oil to the special tool. (Boot contact part)
  4. Remove the tension arm (A) from the knuckle by using the SST (09568-2J100).
    1. Remove the split pin (B).
    2. Remove the castle nut (C).
    3. Disconnect the ball joint from knuckle using the special tool (09568-2J100).

      Tightening Torque: 

      88.3 ~ 107.9 N.m (9.0 ~ 11.0 kgf.m, 65.1 ~ 79.6 lb-ft)

  5. Remove the hub mounting bolt (A).

    Tightening Torque: 

    78.5 ~ 98.1 N.m (8.0 ~ 10.0 kgf.m, 57.9 ~ 72.3 lb-ft)

  6. Remove the lateral arm (A) from the knuckle by using the SST (09568-2J100).
    1. Remove the castle nut (B).
    2. Disconnect the ball joint from knuckle using the special tool (09568-2J100).

      Tightening Torque: 

      88.3 ~ 107.9 N.m (9.0 ~ 11.0 kgf.m, 65.1 ~ 79.6 lb-ft)

  7. Disconnect the front strut assembly (C) with the front lower arm by loosening the bolt & nuts (A, B).

    Tightening Torque: 

    1. 98.1 ~ 117.7 N.m (10.0 ~ 12.0 kgf.m, 72.3 ~ 86.8 lb-ft)
    2. 137.3 ~ 156.9 N.m (14.0 ~ 16.0 kgf.m, 101.3 ~ 115.7 lb-ft)

  8. Disconnect the stabilizer bar with the frame by loosening the bolts (A).

    Tightening Torque: 

    44.1 ~ 53.9 N.m (4.5 ~ 5.5 kgf.m, 32.5 ~ 39.8 lb-ft)

  9. Remove the front bumper cover.

    (Proceed to Body - "FRONT BUMPER COVER ")

  10. Remove the head lamp assembly.

    (Proceed to Body Electrical System - "HEAD LAMPS ")

  11. Remove the power steering pressure hose (A) & return hose (B).

  12. Remove the power steering pressure hose assembly mounting clamp & bracket (A), (B), (C).

  13. Disconnect the mounting bolts (A, B), and then disconnect the steering gear box bracket (C).

    Tightening Torque: 

    1. 107.9 ~ 127.5 N.m (11.0 ~ 13.0 kgf.m, 79.6 ~ 94.0 lb-ft)
    2. 19.6 ~ 29.4 N.m (2.0 ~ 3.0 kgf.m, 14.5 ~ 21.7 lb-ft)

  14. Remove the steering gear box (C) by loosening the bolt (A, B).

    Tightening Torque: 

    1. 107.9 ~ 127.5 N.m (11.0 ~ 13.0 kgf.m, 79.6 ~ 94.0 lb-ft)
    2. 78.5 ~ 98.1 N.m (8.0 ~ 10.0 kgf.m, 57.9 ~ 72.3 lb-ft)

  15. Loosen the main relay box wiring & connector.

  16. Make the space for installing engine fixture by moving main relay box after removing the nuts.

  17. Using the engine support fixture (SST No.: 09200-38001), hold the engine assembly safely.

  18. Remove the both sides engine mounting bracket.

    Tightening Torque: 

    63.7 ~ 83.4 N.m (6.5 ~ 7.5 kgf.m, 47.0 ~ 61.5 lb-ft)

  19. Loosen the both sides bolts and then remove the sub frame.

    Tightening Torque: 

    137.3 ~ 156.9 N.m (14.0 ~ 16.0 kgf.m, 101.3 ~ 115.7 lb-ft)

  20. Remove the engine mounting bracket (A) and tension arm and lateral arm (B).

    Tightening Torque: 

    1. 63.7 ~ 83.4 N.m (6.5 ~ 8.5 kgf.m, 47.0 ~ 61.5 lb-ft)
    2. 137.3 ~ 156.9 N.m (14.0 ~ 16.0 kgf.m, 101.3 ~ 115.7 lb-ft)

  21. Installation is the reverse of removal.
  22. Add power steering fluid to reservoir.
  23. Bleed the power steering system.

    (Proceed to AIR BLEEDING )

  24. Check the wheel alignment.

    (Proceed to Suspension System - "ALIGNMENT ")
