Component Inspection

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2017 Kia K900. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

■ Oscilloscope Waveform Inspection 

  1. IG "ON" & ENG "ON"
  2. Check that a supply of power is proper about CCP (Front Key Module Variant) module.
  3. Turn on a power of HU (Head Unit), and then operate radio, DMB and Navigation by using key module variant.
  4. Connect GDS, and select the oscilloscope function.
  5. Connect T-connector and measure signal waveform between Pin No. 1 (MM-CAN High) terminal of HU (Head Unit) harness connector and chassis ground.

    Connect T-connector and measure signal waveform between Pin No. 13 (MM-CAN Low) terminal of HU (Head Unit) harness connector and chassis ground.

  6. Connect T-connector and measure signal waveform between Pin No. 7 (MM-CAN High) terminal of CCP (Front Key Module Variant) harness connector and chassis ground.

    Connect T-connector and measure signal waveform between Pin No. 1 (MM-CAN Low) terminal of CCP (Front Key Module Variant) harness connector and chassis ground.

    Specification:  If the waveform is measured as a specified waveform, it is normal.

  7. Is the measure waveform in the normal range?

    YES 

    • Check connectors for looseness, poor connection, bending, corrosion, contamination, deterioration, or damage. Repair or replace as necessary and then go to "VERIFICATION OF VEHICLE REPAIR " procedure.

    NO 

    • Check disconnection of communication line (MM-CAN Low and High) which transfers from the CCP (Front Key Module Variant) to the head unit, power line short circuit, grounding line short circuit and mutual short circuit. Repair as necessary and go to "VERIFICATION OF VEHICLE REPAIR " procedure.
    • If the communication line which transfers from the CCP (Front key module variant) to the head unit is normal, substitute the head unit or the CCP (Front key module variant) for a known-good pertinent component and check for proper operation. If the problem is corrected, replace it with new component, and then go to "VERIFICATION OF VEHICLE REPAIR " procedure.
    • If you replace HU (head unit) with new HU, be sure to carry out "HU (head unit) "Vehicle S/W Management  "" and then go to "VERIFICATION OF VEHICLE REPAIR " procedure.
