In order to make normal activation of airbag system, SRSCM monitors the Passenger side Body Sense sensor.
If the seat is occupied, Body Sense sensor detects how passenger weighs and send signal to SRSCM via CAN. SRSCM recognizes the signal as 3 (three) different classifications; that is, 0 (Empty), 1 (Small), 2 (Large). With these signal, SRSCM determines whether it needs to deploy PAB (Passenger Airbag) or not.
NOTE:
if any of the following conditions occur, 'Occupant Classification System (WCS, PODS, BOSE) Reset must be performed again after checking OCS Diagnostic Codes.
- Passenger side Body Sense sensor (ECU) or seat cushion assy (except of seat track assy) is replaced.
- The telltale lamp is not illuminated when the passenger seat is not occupied.
- The telltale lamp is delayed more than 10 seconds to be turned off when an adult passenger seats in.
