Description And Operation: Description

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2017 Kia Soul EV. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

The Inverter Drives the motor of an Electric Vehicle (EV). It changes the DC current of the High Voltage Battery to the AC current require to drive the Motor.

That is, it converts the DC Power (+, -) from the High Voltage Battery into 3-phase AC Power (U, V, W) and controls it via the signal from the control board to drive the Motor.

During acceleration, the High Voltage Battery provides additional power to the Motor. During deceleration, the energy generated by the Motor is used to charge the High Voltage Battery and there by increase the driving distance.
