Section 16 (Charging System - 3.5L): Alternator: Replacement

  1. Disconnect the terminals from the battery.

    Disconnect negative battery terminal first.

  2. Remove the engine cover.
  3. Disconnect the alternator connector (A) and cable (B) from the 'B' terminal.

  4. To release the tension, turn the drive belt tensioner counterclockwise then remove the drive belt (A).

  5. Remove the A/C compressor. Refer to REPAIR PROCEDURES .
  6. Remove the alternator (A).

    Tightening torque : 

    26.5 ~ 33.3 N.m (2.7 ~ 3.4 kgf.m, 19.5 ~ 24.6 lb-ft)

  7. Installation is reverse order of removal.

    Reconnecting the negative battery terminal last.
