Automatic Transaxle: Removal

  1. Remove the battery (A) with the mounting plate and bolt.

  2. Remove the engine cover.

  3. Remove the air cleaner upper body (B) after disconnecting the air flow sensor connector (A).

  4. Remove the PCM connector (A) and air cleaner under body (B).

  5. Remove the battery tray (A).

  6. Disconnect the ground earth wire (A).

  7. Disconnect the inhibiter switch connector (A), solenoid valve connector (B) and the input shaft speed sensor connector (C).

  8. Disconnect the output shaft speed sensor connector (A), and vehicle speed sensor connector (B).

  9. Detach the hoses (A), loosening the oil cooler hose clamps.

  10. Remove the control cable assembly by removing the nut (B) and clip (A).

  11. Remove the transaxle upper mounting bolts (A).

  12. Disconnect the power steering pressure tube (A) from the power steering oil pump, (refer to STEERING SYSTEM )

  13. Using the SST (09200-38001), hold the engine and transaxle assembly safely.

  14. Remove the front wheels and Lifting up the vehicle, remove the under cover.
  15. After removing the oil drain plug (A), drain the fluid.

  16. Drain power steering fluid through the return tube by loosening the clamp (A), (refer to STEERING SYSTEM )

  17. Remove the lower arm ball joint assembly mounting bolts and tie rod end ball joint, (refer to SUSPENSION SYSTEM (EXCEPT TPMS) )
  18. Remove the stabilizer link mounting nuts, (refer to SUSPENSION SYSTEM (EXCEPT TPMS) )
  19. Remove the power steering column joint bolt (A), (refer to STEERING SYSTEM )
  20. Remove the front (B) rear (A) roll stopper mounting bolts, (refer to STEERING SYSTEM )

  21. Remove the muffler hanger rubber (A).

  22. Supporting the sub frame with a jack and the special tool (09624-38000), remove the mounting bolts, (see SUSPENSION SYSTEM (EXCEPT TPMS) ).

  23. Disconnect the driveshafts (A, B) from the transaxle. (see DRIVESHAFT AND AXLE )

  24. Remove the left side cover (A).

  25. Remove the drive plate bolts (A).
    NOTE: Remove the bolts (A-6ea) rotating the crankshaft clockwise.

  26. Remove the transaxle insulator mounting bolts (A).

  27. Supporting the transaxle with a jack, remove the transaxle lower mounting bolts.
