Automatic Transaxle: Removal

  1. Remove the engine cover (A).

  2. Remove the battery (A).

  3. Remove the air upper body (A).

  4. Remove the PCM connectors (A).

  5. After disconnecting the AFS connector (A) and removing the air cleaner upper body (B).

  6. Remove the air cleaner under body (A).

  7. Remove the battery tray (A).

  8. Disconnect the ground wire (A).

  9. Disconnect the inhibitor switch connector (A), solenoid valve connector (B) and the input shaft speed sensor connector (C).

  10. Disconnect the output shaft speed sensor connector (A), and vehicle speed sensor connector (B).

  11. Disconnect the control cable (A) by removing the nut (B).

  12. Remove the control cable bracket (A).

  13. Remove the transaxle oil cooler hoses (A) releasing the clamps.

  14. Remove the transaxle upper mounting bolts (A).

  15. Remove the transaxle insulator mounting bolt (A).

  16. Using the SST (09200-38001), support the engine and transaxle assembly safely.

  17. Disconnect the power steering pressure tube (A) from the power steering oil pump.

  18. Remove the front wheels and Lifting up the vehicle, remove the under cover (A).

  19. Drain power steering fluid through the return tube by loosening the clamp (A), (refer to STEERING SYSTEM )

  20. After removing the oil drain plug (A), drain the fluid.

  21. Remove the lower arm ball joint assembly mounting bolts and tie rod end ball joint, (refer to SUSPENSION SYSTEM (EXCEPT TPMS) )
  22. Remove the stabilizer link mounting nut. (refer to SUSPENSION SYSTEM (EXCEPT TPMS) )
  23. Remove the power steering column joint bolt (A), (refer to STEERING SYSTEM )
  24. Remove the front (B) rear (A) roll stopper mounting bolts.

  25. Remove the muffler hanger rubber (A).

  26. Supporting the sub frame (A) with a jack and the Special tool (09624-38000), remove the mounting bolts. (refer to Stabilizer removal in SUSPENSION SYSTEM (EXCEPT TPMS) )

  27. Remove the front muffler assembly (A).

  28. Remove the inner shaft bracket bolts (A).

  29. Remove drive shaft (A, B) from transaxle. (refer to DRIVESHAFT AND AXLE ).

  30. Remove the left side cover (A).

  31. Remove the front roll support (A) from the transaxle.

  32. Remove the starter motor mounting bolt and nut.

  33. Remove the drive plate bolts (A).
    NOTE: Remove the bolts (A-6ea) rotating the crankshaft clockwise.

  34. Remove the transaxle under mounting bolts.

  35. Lifting the vehicle up and lowering the jack slowly, remove the transaxle assembly.
