Automatic Transaxle: Removal

- Remove the engine cover (A).
- Remove the battery (A).
- Remove the air upper body (A).
- Remove the PCM connectors (A).
- After disconnecting the AFS connector (A) and removing the air cleaner upper body (B).
- Remove the air cleaner under body (A).
- Remove the battery tray (A).
- Disconnect the ground wire (A).
- Disconnect the inhibitor switch connector (A), solenoid valve connector (B) and the input shaft speed sensor connector (C).
- Disconnect the output shaft speed sensor connector (A), and vehicle speed sensor connector (B).
- Disconnect the control cable (A) by removing the nut (B).
- Remove the control cable bracket (A).
- Remove the transaxle oil cooler hoses (A) releasing the clamps.
- Remove the transaxle upper mounting bolts (A).
- Remove the transaxle insulator mounting bolt (A).
- Using the SST (09200-38001), support the engine and transaxle assembly safely.
- Disconnect the power steering pressure tube (A) from the power steering oil pump.
- Remove the front wheels and Lifting up the vehicle, remove the under cover (A).
- Drain power steering fluid through the return tube by loosening the clamp (A), (refer to STEERING SYSTEM )
- After removing the oil drain plug (A), drain the fluid.
- Remove the lower arm ball joint assembly mounting bolts and tie rod end ball joint, (refer to SUSPENSION SYSTEM (EXCEPT TPMS) )
- Remove the stabilizer link mounting nut. (refer to SUSPENSION SYSTEM (EXCEPT TPMS) )
- Remove the power steering column joint bolt (A), (refer to STEERING SYSTEM )
- Remove the front (B) rear (A) roll stopper mounting bolts.
- Remove the muffler hanger rubber (A).
- Supporting the sub frame (A) with a jack and the Special tool (09624-38000), remove the mounting bolts. (refer to Stabilizer removal in SUSPENSION SYSTEM (EXCEPT TPMS) )
- Remove the front muffler assembly (A).
- Remove the inner shaft bracket bolts (A).
- Remove drive shaft (A, B) from transaxle. (refer to DRIVESHAFT AND AXLE ).
- Remove the left side cover (A).
- Remove the front roll support (A) from the transaxle.
- Remove the starter motor mounting bolt and nut.
- Remove the drive plate bolts (A).NOTE: Remove the bolts (A-6ea) rotating the crankshaft clockwise.
- Remove the transaxle under mounting bolts.
- Lifting the vehicle up and lowering the jack slowly, remove the transaxle assembly.
