Component Inspection
- Visual Inspection
- Check damage, looseness or poor connection on hoses for the fuel evaporative system.
- Has a problem been found?
YES
- Repair as necessary and go to "VERIFICATION OF VEHICLE REPAIR " procedure
NO
- Go to 2 "Check PCSV" procedure.
- Check PCSV
- Disconnect a hose between a surge tank and PCSV. (Surge tank side only)
- Connect a vacuum gauge to a hose, and apply vacuum.
- Is it possible to make vacuum?
YES
- Go to 3 "Check ECM/PCM" procedure.
NO
- Substitute with a known-good PCSV and check for proper operation. If the problem is corrected, replace PCSV and then go to "VERIFICATION OF VEHICLE REPAIR " procedure.
- Check ECM/PCM
- Connect scantool on the DLC ( Data Link Connector)
- Perform Action Test for Canister Vent Solenoid Valve with scantool
- Check clicking sound of PCSV.
- Is the PCSV normal ?
YES
- Thoroughly check connectors for looseness, poor connection, ending, corrosion, contamination, deterioration, or damage. Repair or replace as necessary and go to "VERIFICATION OF VEHICLE REPAIR " procedure.
NO
- Substitute with a known-good ECM/PCM and check for proper operation. If the problem is corrected, replace ECM/PCM and then go to "VERIFICATION OF VEHICLE REPAIR " procedure.
NOTE: There is a memory reset function on scantool that can erase optional parts automatically detected and memorized by ECM/PCM.
Before or after testing ECM/PCM on the vehicle, use this function to reuse the ECM/PCM
