General Information: DTC Detecting Condition

DTC DETECTING CONDITION AND POSSIBLE CAUSES

Item Detecting Condition Possible Cause
DTC Strategy
  • Evaluate O2 sensor element temperature via measuring element resistance.
  • Related fuse blown or missing
  • Heater control circuit open or short
  • Power supply circuit open or short
  • Contact resistance in connectors
  • Faulty HO2S
Enable Conditions
  • Nominal O2 sensor heating phase
  • 1% < O2 sensor heater power < 80%
  • Time after start elapsed (to perform OBD1 diag): 240 sec.
  • Exhaust gas temp. model < 650°C (1202°F)
  • No relevant failure
  • 11V < Battery voltage < 16V
 
Threshold Value
  • O2 sensor element resistance > 1100Ω (element temperature < 550°C (1022°F))
Diagnostic Time
  • 5 min. continuous
