Fuel Tank: Removal
WARNING:
- When removing the fuel tank, keep sparks, cigarettes, and open flames away from it.
- Before replacing the fuel tank, clean it thoroughly with steam to remove all gasoline.
- Drain the fuel from the fuel tank before removing the tank.
- Release fuel system pressure. See FUEL SYSTEM PRESSURE RELEASE .
- Disconnect the negative battery terminal from the battery.
- Drain the fuel from the fuel tank.
- Remove seat mounting bolts. See Figure.
- Remove the rear seat .
- Remove the service cover under center floor carpet. See Figure.
- Disconnect the fuel pump electrical connector, the EVAP. hose, the main and return hose. See Figure.WARNING: When disconnecting fuel hose quick connectors, use shop towels to absorb fuel, protecting equipment and personnel.
- Disconnect the breather hose.
- Disconnect the joint hose.
- Unfasten the fuel tank-fixing bolts.
- Remove the fuel tank.
