Checking Engine Oil
- Position a vehicle on a level surface.
- Stop the engine.CAUTION: In the case of a vehicle that has been out of service for a prolonged period, run the engine for several minutes. Stop the engine and wait a few minutes at least, then check the oil level.
- If the oil level is found to have fallen to the lower limit (the L mark), refill to the "F" mark.
CAUTION: When refilling, use the same type of engine oil as the one currently being used.
- Check that the oil is not dirty or mixed with coolant or gasoline, and that it has the proper viscosity.
