Component Inspection

  1. Ignition "OFF"
  2. Remove ICA Valve from Throttle body. Check for throttle bore, throttle plate and the ICA passages for chocking and for any foreign objects. Repair or clean as necessary.
  3. Connect ICA Valve terminal #2 to 12V power source. One-at-a-time, momentarily ground pins 1 and 3 while visually verifying valve closes when pin #1 is grounded and valve opens when pin #3 is grounded. Repeat numerous times to ensure valve reliability.
  4. Is ICA Valve moving freely and not carbon fouled?
CAUTION: While IAC Valve is removed, inspect Throttle Body for obstructions in idle circuit ports. Repair or replace as necessary.

    YES

    1. Check for poor connection between ECM and component: backed out terminal, improper mating, broken locks or poor terminal to wire connection. Repair as necessary and go to "VERIFICATION OF VEHICLE REPAIR " procedure

    NO

    1. Check ICA for contamination, deterioration, or damage. Substitute with a known-good ICA and check for proper operation. If the problem is corrected, replace ICA and then go to "VERIFICATION OF VEHICLE REPAIR " procedure
