Changing Engine Coolant

CAUTION: When pouring engine coolant, be sure to shut the relay box lid and not to let coolant spill on electrical parts or the paint. If any coolant spills, rinse it off immediately.
  1. Side the heater temperature control lever to maximum heat. Make sure the engine and radiator are cool to the touch.
  2. Remove the radiator cap.
  3. Loosen the drain plug, and drain the coolant.

  4. Tighten the radiator drain plug securely.
  5. Remove the coolant reserve tank. Drain the coolant and reinstall the coolant reserve tank.
  6. Fill the coolant reserve tank to the MAX mark with the coolant.
  7. Pour the coolant into the radiator to the base of the filler neck, and install the radiator cap loosely

    Coolant capacity : 10.2 liters (10.78 US qt, 8.9 lmp qt)

  8. Start the engine and let it run until it warms up. (until the radiator fan operates 3 or 4 times.)
  9. Turn off the engine. Check the level in the radiator, add coolant if needed. This will allow trapped air to be removed from the cooling system.
  10. Put the radiator cap on tightly, then run the engine again and check for leaks.
